Fraud Prevention and Security
Lets face it. Fraudulent internet purchases is rampant, worse for non-tangible items and
in absolute chaos for mmorpg virtual items. To assume that there is not an abundance of Nefarious individuals hacking paypal accounts and roaming the internet looking for their prey would be a catastrophic mistake.
Yes, we have fallen prey to these hungry villains in the past and they have gouged us deeply with their (Freddie like) claws. We have learned allot over the past several years. Our experiences have enabled us to construct a sound prevention plan. Its implementation has brought us astonishing results as sellers on ebay and we carry that plan here to RPG Loft.
Although I am not at liberty to reveal to you the internal, behind the scenes portions of this plan I can explain to you what we may need from you and why.
First you need to understand that we may not and probably do not know who you are. Establishing some kind of identity is our goal here. If we do that it will lay to rest many if not all of our concerns. What and how much information we may need from you will depend on certain situations. We will not know many of these situations until we have reviewed your paypal payment information and what you have provided to us. So please include as much of the following information with your payment as possible. The lack of information can result in delayed delivery of your purchase or even denial of your payment. We do not want this to happen.
Verified paypal account
This is how paypal establishes your identity. It is of little use to us if a buyer is useing a hacked account but we do on occasion require it if your payment is lacking other information.
Provide your paypal confirmed shipping address
Although we are not actually shipping an item this is very important to us. It helps us on several fronts including letting us know... that you know... your Credit card billing address. We cannot view your credit card info on paypal and it is the only way we have of knowing.
Phone number, Non cellular land line if possible.
In many cases we are able acquire your address by looking up your phone number if it is a land line. If this is so and it also matches your paypal confirmed shipping address??!! We make the simple phone call to you to confirm the purchase! Bingo!. You get your order immediately assuming that it was not a child who answered the phone. Yes the phone call serves more than one purpose. You would be surprised with the number of payment reversals we have had as a result of children hijacking their parents paypal account or Credit card. Cell phones may be acceptable depending on the situation and other provided information. We simply are not able to get enough info on cell phones to concrete any deal.
Internet service provider email address
Use the email address which is provided to you by your internet service provider as your primary paypal email address and use that address when you log into paypal to make your payment. We will on occasion want to do an email confirmation by having you reply to an email sent by us. Hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail ect serve us no purpose when anyone in the world can acquire them with ease.
That pretty much sums it up. It may seem harsh to some but please understand one thing. This not only helps us. It also helps you and is also beneficial in maintaining a secure community as a whole.
